PARTICIPANT CATEGORY
Please read the following descriptions of participant categories carefully before proceeding with your Expression of Interest. Potential participants are those who have experience in research or development related projects in delta governance, sustainable development and resilience building, across all disciplines and sectors.
- Early Career Researcher (ECR)/Early Career Practitioner (ECP)
- Is an active Masters or PhD student in a recognised academic institution, OR, graduated from a Master’s or PhD program within the last three years.
- Community Representative
- Must be a resident of a delta community.
- Is an active member of a Local Community Network, Community Based Organisation or Non-Government Organisation located within a delta community.
- Regular
- Any individual who does not fall into the aforementioned two categories (ECRs/ECPs or Community Representative)
- Institutional Delegation
- Any local, national, regional or international government, non-government, private or public sector organisation, institution or enterprise with work or activities related to delta governance are welcome to apply as Institutional Delegation.
- Institutional Delegation registrations will include the following,
- An exhibition booth to showcase your initiatives, activities, projects, research and innovation (subject to review and confirmation).
- Registration costs for two (2) individuals from the organisation/institution.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
Interested participants wishing to avail discounted rates for Early Career Researchers/Early Career Practitioners and Community Representatives must submit the following supporting documents as proof of status.
- ECRs/ECPs
- For active Masters or PhD students, please upload (1) an institutional identification card clearly mentioning the enrolment dates, OR, (2) a letter from your academic institution/department endorsing your active student status (eg. a Student Certificate)
- For graduated Masters or PhD students, please upload (1) certificate of graduation clearly mentioning the graduation dates, OR, (2) a letter from your academic institution/department endorsing your graduation status.
- Community Representatives
- Any form of identification linked to a Community Group or a Local Community Based Organisation
Institutions interested to participate in the event as an Institutional Delegation and apply for the exhibition booth spaces must submit the following document when filling up the Expression of Interest form.
- A formal letter (in official letterhead) nominating participants and (if applicable) depicting interest in exhibition booth.
INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATION AND INSTITUTIONAL EXHIBIT
We invite interested participants to contribute to the Summit’s discussions through an Oral or Poster presentation (individuals) or Institutional Exhibit (institutional delegation) closely aligned with the Summit’s thematic areas and objectives.
Individual Presentation
If you are interested in presenting your research, projects, innovation or lessons that can directly contribute to the UNCCRD, please ensure you submit your tentative title, abstract and preferred mode of delivery when filling up the Expression of Interest form.
- Abstracts submitted must be closely aligned with the Summit’s Thematic Areas and may cover a wide range of issues pertaining to delta challenges, risks and governance.
- Abstracts MUST be the participant’s ORIGINAL WORK and may include scientific research, case studies, innovations or tools.
- All submitted abstracts will undergo a Peer Review by the Summit’s Technical Committee.
- Due to time and space limitations, we will only be able to select a few abstracts for poster or oral presentations. Interested participants will be notified regarding the outcome.
Institutional Exhibit
Institutions interested in setting up their booths are required to provide details on potential exhibits, projects or ideas while filling up the Expression of Interest Form.
- Projects, research or innovations proposed for exhibits must be aligned with the Summit’s thematic areas and contribute to the Summit’s objectives.
- All submitted proposals will undergo a Peer Review by the Summit’s Technical Committee.
- We have limited space available, hence the final decision for the institutional exhibits will be made by the Organising Committee upon reviewing the application, and will be dependent on fit-to-Summit themes and also be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
- All materials for the exhibition must be prepared by the participants.
APPLICATION FOR TRAVEL GRANT
A number of Travel Grants are competitively available to interested Early Career Researchers/Practitioners and Community Representatives to support their registration, travel and accommodation to attend the Summit.
Subject to availability of funds, the Travel Grant may cover:
- Registration Fees
- Direct Round Trip Airfare ticket from the participant’s nearest airport to Bangkok, Thailand (Economy class ticket in a budget airline wherever available).
- Accommodation for the duration of the Summit within the AIT Campus Premises.
- T&S for the optional Summit field visit to the Chao Phraya delta.
ECRs, Practitioners and Community Representatives interested in applying for the Travel Grant to attend the Summit are required to submit the following documents along with the Expression of Interest form:
- Short Bio [Max. 150 words including (a) personal introduction, (b) your past and current work in the Summit’s thematic areas and (c) references to any resources to demonstrate your interests and accomplishments]
- Statement of Purpose [Max. 150 words page explaining (a) why you would like to help build the United Nations Convention for Conserving River Deltas from the community up, (b) what knowledge, insights and/or aspirations you would bring to the process and (c) what you hope to achieve from your participation to the summit]

REGISTRATION
Have you already submitted an Expression of Interest and received an invitation to register to the event? If yes, please follow the following instruction to register to the event.
- Make payment of the applicable registration fees mentioned in the notification email.
- Save a copy of the payment confirmation (transfer slip, voucher etc.)
- Fill and submit the registration form.
